Just when u thought the media couldn't stoop any lower......they do.
To add another twist to the anti-support theme for Iraq, the media published a story that said Coalition Forces were withdrawing at the end of the year. The first paragraph of the story goes on and names like 3 or 4 Coalition Force nations who are withdrawing troops. But if you didnt read anymore and just thought to yourself "hun, I guess the whole world is turning their backs on Iraq and the US."
Well, I am here to tell...the rest of the story. (Kinda like Steve Harvey) The Coalition Forces nations that are pulling out are very minor players like S.Korea, Poland, Czechoslovakia, etc. These countries have anywhere from 10-500 soldiers that are not organized in ground combat missions like the USA and Great Britain. These nations are helping to train police officers and other law enforcement agencies. Also, these countries have honored their committment to the USA and Great Britain and stayed until their mission was complete. But no, the media portrayed this event as more nations turning their back on this most unpopular war. Just as Iraq has asked for a timetable from the USA and GB, they have asked for a timetable for all Coalition Forces. And as these brave young men and women are trained, less and less nations will need to have troops here. So, we need to look at this as a postitive note, because if these nations begin withdrawing their troops, that means Iraqis are skilfully trained and confident enough to begin patrolling and securing more parts of this country. It is stories like this that give soldiers a headache. Also, stories like my friend has to tell about good Ol' USA citizens. Read on to this story
and check out the audacity of some our citizens.
