Well, its been quite some time since I last posted. I really havent had a desire to post, but have decided to give an update. So for my loyal fan out there, here you go:
-Since getting promoted, I had to switch cans (rooms) due to my new rank. I actually made out good cuz I knew my new roommate already and we set up our room the way we wanted. My old roommate Matt got a short end of the stick. He got put in with 5 other guys and it is cramped in there.
-I am tired of hearing all these rumors about a mission change or we are going to Afghanistan as soon as we get home or our orders are getting extended. Come on people! Wake up and smell the burnt coffee. You are a National Guardsment no the friggin 82nd Airborne! You dont go from one hell hole to another in a matter of months. And a mission change, hah, that is a load of crap. Some higher up is pissed cuz we are not "in the shit" like we trained for, instead, got a mission that is a little easier. I'm not saying this is a cakewalk, I am in Iraq and anything goes, but anyone who wants to be shot at everyday, have indirect fire landing on the base everyday, or have roadside bombs that put craters in the roads going off constantly should have the friggin head examined. I know a great mission when I see one and let me tell you, THIS IS A GREAT MISSION. Some of our other brethren who are in the shit would give up a month's pay just to switch with us and THESE morons want all that glory. I look at it this way, destiny has its way so no sense in chasing the glory. Destiny will throw a screwball in there and then you will hate life. Just another example of our wonderful Keystone Cowboys chasing the glory. Now, if the Department of the Army has a mission change for us, so be it, it's meant to be. 'nuff grumbling about that.
-It seems we work for some dumb ass people who dont know how to read their OWN reports. The last 2 days our higher headquarters has called and asked some of the most retarded questions I have ever heard. They will call and ask why a number changed on one report but not another 3 hours before they are do. Relax hotshot! We know what we are doing. This isnt the first time we have been deployed. We also have Marines assigned to us who bravely extended for another tour. Now, we are Army, they are Marines. They do certain paperwork different and use a whole different way of submitting the paperwork. We as Army cant process their leave, or do anything with pay. We had some Marines go on leave and come back. So I emailed their dates to our higher which is Marines. They call us and asked us why we didnt process their leave. Umm, let me see, BECAUSE WE ARENT MARINES! It doesnt take a rocket scientist to comprehend these simple matters but they make it out to be. Just think I still have 10 more months of them.
-Also with our higher guys, they dont know how to use a phone. We call them asking for the number to Red Cross so we could close out a message. They couldnt even give us a number cuz they just email the RC. Nice, real nice. What happens if the 'net is down? Just gonna wait till it comes back up? Pathetic. They sent us a RC message and didnt bother to give us a courtesy ring telling us it was in one of our many inboxes. You know, we have nothing better to do than every 5 minutes check our inboxes to see if anything is there. We hold RC messages with the highest regards cuz 99% of the time someone has died and this is the notification that your mother/father/grandparent/dog has passed away. Working with these people is gonna be really difficult for the next 10 months.
-On a lighter note, my chest is gonna be bruised for the next month from all the "congratulations on your promotion to sergeant" punches I have recieved. Every NCO and officer I have encountered has "congratulated" me. Although some people still have a gripe about me getting promoted. They feel I cheated the system. Ummm, ok, lemme think about this for a sec....no I didnt cheat. I went to a reserve component school, became MOS qualified, and next thing you know the state had me on the infantry promotion list. Then, a vacancy in one of our line companies couldnt be filled and I was next on the list. I dont see how I cheated the system. So to them Phuck Off! Take your one tracked/pig headed/sorry ass somewhere else and piss on someone elses tree cuz I aint havin that shit no more. The next comment I get they are gonna get an earful, and remember, I am the same rank as most of them so they cant do shit.
Well, that is how my last couple of weeks has gone, and frankly, I am tired of some of this bullshit. Hopefully some of it will end, I know all of it wont cuz this is the military. Remember to have a moment of silence for all the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom......
enough grumbling for now.....
