In the last few days, I have driven to New Orleans and back and to Gulfport which is in Mississippi and back picking up soldiers. I dont know what makes me more tired, driving all over the south or training. Oh well, gotta do what I gotta do. Since their is not much going on right now here in Camp Shelby, I think I will take this time and let ya know what kind of training I have done. I have been to the rifle range a couple times and got "familiar" with my rifle. The ranges here at Shelby are laid out real nice, but the targets suck. You can see holes in the closest targets. That is not good. How am I suppose to hit targets with holes in them? Are terrorists and insurgents running around with bullet holes already in them? I think not! I have also gotten a chance to fire an automatic grenade launcher. Now that is a piece of machinery that can reach out and touch someone. I have also been through Close Quarter Combat training. Basically that is just learning how to disarm someone by collapsing their windpipe and taking their weapon. So look out everyone at home, I am a trained killer! But seriously, I have learned some cool techniques and some things are redundant army training that I have done since basic training.
Also, for anyone who would like to send letters or packages to soldiers deployed overseas, check out this website-- www.anysoldier.com
You can send needed things to soldiers who are deployed across the world and do not have access to buy certain things. It is a great website and I will be signing up for it when I get to Iraq so I can deliver packages and letters to soldiers over there. Well, its almost dinner time so I will get going. Hopefully its something other than chicken, I am tired of chicken but I cant complain about the food here at Shelby. In my time in the military, its gotta be the best food I ever ate at a military dining facility. But I hope it aint chicken!
