By now, most of you know that I have been called up to go to Iraq for up to 18 months. I am now currently 1 month into my training with a few more to go. I feel this is an easier way to keep in touch with all of my friends plus share my thoughts and the events that take place with anyone who cares. Since this is my first input, I think it would be appropriate to share some of my background. I have served our great nation for 8 years now with about 6 1/2 on active duty. I have been in the National Guard since 2001 and this is my second deployment since. I have had to leave my family and friends behind to support and defend our great nation and it has not been easy. It never does get easy. You sorta get numb to the fact that you are leaving once again. I have lost friends and loved ones who could not take me leaving, and to those I wish them well in their journies. It is almost like the military is a calling for me and God knows what the outcome may be. I have held many jobs in the military from being on the front lines in artillery to working in a office in an infantry unit which is my current job. In Iraq I won't be on the front lines per say, but is their really a front line in that country? All I can promise to all my friends is that I will do my best to stay out of harm's way and come home to those people in my life who really care for me and I too. I am not totally alone on this adventure as one of my best friends in this world works right next to me. Our promise to our friends is that we will "watch each other's backs" and both come home to what some would call a "heroes welcome" although that wouldn't be a proper term. As the days go on, I will update this site and keep everyone posted on the everyday events that go on in the military and Iraq. Hopefully what I bring to this site in Iraq will help people understand alittle bit more what our soldiers are doing over there. I will end this by saying that I miss my friends and mostly my family and my girl. Without their support, I would be a lost soul. Thank you, especially you Kristen. To everyone in ZBT, I will see you soon. Nothing but love to all of you.
